CapSU BSF students conclude training at UPV-CFOS with gratitude

Five BS in Fisheries (BSF) students from the Capiz State University (CapSU)-Dayao Satellite campus completed their on-the-job training at the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, UP Visayas (UPV-CFOS).

During the closing program held on June 28, 2024, the students expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the College for accepting and mentoring them.

“To conclude our on-the-job training, we want to express how amazing this journey has been. We have gained valuable knowledge and developed useful skills, proving ourselves to be resourceful in every challenge. It has been a truly satisfying journey,” said Michael Jared A. Reynoso on behalf of his peers.

Another student, Rea Angelika N. Condez, remarked that they did not regret spending their OJT at CFOS since they learned valuable knowledge that they could take back to their school and share with their classmates.

“We are thankful to CFOS for their generosity and concern for us. We are proud to spend our OJT at UPV-CFOS,” she added in local dialect.

The students shared their learning, journey, and experiences after completing the 176 hours on-the-job training at the, Institute of Fisheries Policy and Development Studies, Institute of Fish Processing Technology, and Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanology, and Institute of Aquaculture from May 27 to June 27, 2024.

The students were provided comprehensive practical knowledge and skills in various aspects of fisheries science particularly in aquaculture, capture fisheries, fisheries post harvest, and fisheries management.

UPV-CFOS has been partnering with other SUCs and national high schools from the different parts of the country for on-the-job training (OJT), a public service activity that enables the College to share its expertise to deepen its engagements with more institutions.

For the past years, CFOS has accommodated and trained students from other SUCs and private and public high schools, fostering holistic learning development by exposing them to actual work situation, scientific research, projects, and engaging in actual science laboratory activities.
