INSTITUTE OF FISHERIES POLICY AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES
The IFPDS is the smallest institute, in terms of human resources, at the College of Fisheries and Ocean Science – UP Visayas however, it can equate or even surpass the other institutes in terms of research outputs and extension services.

OBJECTIVES
- To offer academic programs which will provide the human resources for the development and management of aquatic resources
- To conduct policy research and development studies on different areas of fisheries – aquaculture, capture fisheries, fish processing technology, and management of aquatic resources
- To conduct training, extension and outreach programs for government and non-government organizations on fisheries management, policies and development
- To establish linkages and undertake collaborative work with other policy research institutions.
