The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), through the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (UPV-CFOS), and the National Taiwan University (NTU) have officially established a mutual academic cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on March 13, 2024.
UPV Chancellor Dr. Clement C. Camposano and NTU President Dr. Wen-Chang Chen led the signing of the MoU aimed at promoting academic and cultural ties.
NTU is a prestigious national public research university in Taipei, Taiwan.
The agreement outlined the commitment of both institutions to shared educational and research undertakings in all areas and disciplines.
Specifically, UPV-CFOS and NTU, through its College of Science, agreed to promote exchange of faculty members, researchers, undergraduate and graduate students, publications, and research results.
Former CFOS dean Prof. Encarnacion Emilia S. Yap and NTU College of Science dean Dr. Chun-Chieh Wu also signed the agreement.
The collaboration was made possible through the efforts of Asst. Prof. Dr. Cristy S. Acabado, director of the Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanology, CFOS.
National Taiwan University is the most recent addition to CFOS’ list of overseas partner universities, and the fifth from Taiwan joining National Taiwan Ocean University; Biodiversity Research Center, Academia Sinica; National Taiwan Normal University; and National Chiayi University.
