COVID-SAFE CFOS

The UPV College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences is awarded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as the Center of Excellence in Fisheries Education. The College is committed to improve, develop, and implement programs that ensure the delivery of quality fisheries education, research, and public service.

In preparation for the re-opening of CFOS laboratories and facilities and the conduct of limited face-to-face classes amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the College prepared several guidelines that shall ensure continuous provision of support to its students and constituents.

Checklist for Students Before
Returning to the Campus

A. For students coming from within Western Visayas
  1. The student informs the UPV HSU and specific dormitory of the expected date of arrival in UPV Miagao (preferably three days ahead).
  2. The student emails a scanned copy of the accomplished UPV Limited Face-to-Face Undertaking and Waiver to his/her respective academic units and submits the original copy to the unit upon arrival.
  3. The HSU physician conducts an online assessment of the student’s health status and provides travel recommendations.
  4. Upon arrival in UPV Miagao, the student proceeds to the HSU for physical assessment and securing of health clearance before admission to the dormitory.
B. For students coming from other regions
  1. Students must self-monitor and restrict their movements at least five (5) days prior to their intended date of travel and must not be exposed to suspected or positive COVID-19 cases. If the student experiences COVID-19 symptoms prior to their intended date of travel, they must secure a fit to travel certificate from a physician in their respective locality.
  2. The student secures travel documents, approved S-PaSS, and vaccination card/certification to be presented upon departure and arrival. As of February 16, 2022, the Province of Iloilo and local government of Miagao do not require a negative RT-PCR test result for fully vaccinated individuals. Students are classified as returning residents by the local government of Miagao and must secure a Travel Coordination Permit and Certificate of Barangay Acceptance from the barangay where they will reside during the conduct of F2F classes. Travel requirements can be found on the S-PaSS website (https://s-pass.ph).
  3. The student informs the UPV HSU and the intended dormitory where he or she will stay, of his/her expected date of arrival in UPV Miagao, preferably three (3) days ahead.
  4. The student emails a scanned copy of the accomplished UPV Limited Face-to-Face Undertaking and Waiver to their respective units and submits the original copy to their unit upon arrival.
  5. The HSU physician conducts an online assessment of the student’s health status and provides travel recommendations.
  6. The student must arrange their transportation from the airport/port of entry to UPV Miagao on the day of their arrival with the local government of Miagao.
  7. Upon arrival in UPV Miagao, the student proceeds to the HSU for physical assessment and securing of health clearance before admission to the dormitory.
  8. The student must then observe self-monitoring and isolation for 5 days prior to the start of any F2F classes or activities.
